BGMI LITE pre-registration opens in India as Krafton targets lower-end Android phones

Krafton India has opened pre-registration for BGMI LITE on Google Play today, August 25, giving Battlegrounds Mobile India a new route into the enormous segment of players using entry-level and older Android devices. The lighter version is being positioned around reduced hardware demands and a substantially smaller initial download, reportedly around 1GB, while retaining the core battle-royale identity that made BGMI one of India's most important mobile games.

Krafton says the game is expected to launch before the end of 2026. BGMI LITE matters because mobile gaming's largest growth markets do not necessarily revolve around flagship processors or expensive gaming phones. Storage capacity, RAM and data costs remain significant barriers for millions of potential players, particularly when modern live-service games regularly exceed several gigabytes after updates.

A properly optimized BGMI variant could therefore expand Krafton's addressable audience considerably without requiring players to upgrade their hardware. Today's pre-registration opening is the first major public step toward discovering how aggressively Krafton intends to optimize the experience for budget devices.
