MSI Claw 8 EX AI Plus shows Intel’s Arc G3 Extreme handheld push is real
MSI has revealed the Claw 8 EX AI Plus ahead of Computex, using Intel’s new Arc G3 Extreme handheld chip, an 8-inch 1920x1200 120Hz display and up to 32GB LPDDR5x memory.
MSI’s Claw 8 EX AI Plus is the big portable-hardware story of 29 May. The Verge reports that MSI has revealed the handheld ahead of Computex, using Intel’s new Arc G3 Extreme chip with Xe3 GPU cores. That matters because the first MSI Claw generation had a rough reputation, while the handheld PC market has mostly revolved around AMD-powered devices and Steam Deck comparisons.
The new Claw 8 EX AI Plus has an 8-inch 1920x1200 120Hz touchscreen, a redesigned chassis, Hall effect sticks and triggers, improved haptics and support for up to 32GB LPDDR5x memory. Pricing and launch timing are still missing, which is where the excitement has to slow down. Specs are one thing. Battery life, thermals, Windows handheld usability and actual game performance are the real boss fights.
